Acetaia

LEGACY

An enduring heritage born from passion and time.

ACETAIA LA BONISSIMA is a testament to the enduring passion of the De Pietri family, who have cherished the art of Balsamic production since the early 1900s.
At the turn of the century, Grandfather Celestino ran one of Modena’s most iconic taverns, Casa Rigata, located just outside the city along the historic Via Emilia. It was the official rest stop for the legendary Mille Miglia car race.
During the trial runs ahead of the competition, renowned drivers and mechanics would pause to savor the precious Balsamico, aged in barrels that had once served wine.

Stewardship

A story of continuity, care, and deep-rooted tradition.

Over the years, dozens of barrels were gradually added to the original ones, and with the help of his son Egidio, the Acetaia grew into a more structured and enduring form.
Of the old trattoria, what remains, beyond the memory preserved in the hearts of the Modenese, who turned that era into part of the city’s living heritage, is the historic Acetaia itself.
Today, it stands on the edge of the Apennines, just seven kilometers from the center of Modena, in the undisputed land of the grape varieties used to produce musts for Balsamico.

TRADITION

TRADITION

A ritual of scent, season, and family.

At the end of each harvest season, a cherished ritual is repeated: Franco and Donatella, together with their sons Francesco and Alessandro, the latest generation of the family, gather once again to breathe in the unmistakable aroma rising from the large vats where the freshly pressed grape juice is slowly cooked over a gentle flame.
